ABOUT
JACARANDÁ was formed in Lisbon in 2019 by ALBAN HALL (vocals, harmonica, flute, percussions) and PHILIPPE LENZINI (guitar, percussions). In 2023 RICARDO FREITAS joined the band on bass, and in 2024 JONATHAN BARRAL joined on the drums.
Inspired by the universe and the sound of the Mississippi Blues, they take its minimalist and shamanic cadence, electrifying it and mixing it with other influences, ranging from tribal music to psychedelic rock. In 2019, together with bassist Gonçalo Zagalo, the band released their first eponymous EP, followed by a single “Home” in February 2022 and the last single “Wolves and Gasoline” in November 2022. Jacarandá have played in numerous concerts in Portugal and will record their first LP in 2024.
Music for change, for empowerment, for knowledge, for celebration, the magic of storytelling.

THE BAND
ALBAN HALL is an English/French performer and multi-instrumentalist based in Lisbon. From 2002 to 2016 he worked as a dancer and musician with choreographers Eleonore Didier, José Laginha, Aldara Bizarro and Marina Nabais. In 2004 he co-founded the world music project OCO and currently works with OCO, Jacarandá and MettaMusic.
PHILIPPE LENZINI is a French musician, composer and producer based in Lisbon. He began his career as a guitarist in the French fusion group Dirty District and has since played and recorded with artists such as Ian Simmonds, Martin Glover, Lofofora, Bazbaz, Klima, among others. He is also a member of the improvisation collective Orchestra Elastique. He composes music for theatre, dance and film.
RICARDO A. FREITAS is a portuguese bass player and composer, working in jazz, improvised music, theatre, dance and video projects. He started in the group Pablibut Sone, went through Wishful Thiking Quintet and 3-Bass-Hit. Currently integrates Al-jiçç and JACARANDÁ. He is part of the duo Mardi Matin, and proposed and developed the Interlúnio and Grip5 projects.
